U.S. is the second most popular IPO destination for global education after Hong Kong, with 10 listings across NYSE and NASDAQ over the last two years. MooCs exploring new models with EdX testing the market with a mix of free courses and paid certificates, access fees and time-bound subscriptions. Philanthropic and Foundation investment in education is outpacing venture investment and may well be growing faster, albeit generally aimed at traditional institutions.
