The Europe EdTech 200 is HolonIQ's annual list of the most promising EdTech startups from Europe.
The Europe EdTech 200 is focused on identifying young, fast growing and innovative learning, teaching and up-skilling startups across Europe (excluding the Nordic-Baltic region which is covered in the Nordic-Baltic EdTech 50). Powered by data and insights from our Impact Intelligence Platform together with qualitative assessments by HolonIQ’s Intelligence Unit, and local market experts in each region, organizations are evaluated and scored based on our eligibility and assessment criteria.

HolonIQ’s 2022 Europe EdTech 200 is aligned to the Global Learning Landscape, an Open-Source Taxonomy that maps the education and talent market.

Almost half of this year’s list operate in the workforce sector.
Solutions supporting infrastructure for learning and the management of education processes account for 20% of this years list, as institutions and corporate seek to progress their digital initiatives. Platforms and environments for learning dominate, including those to support blended (Rise Up, FeedbackFruits) micro and mobile learning (Code of Talent), and creation (Genially). Startups focusing on workforce, skills and jobs account for a further 20% from digital upskilling providers (CAPSLOCK), career counseling, leadership, coaching and wellness (Sharpist, Psycapps, Wooskill). Startups addressing the gap between education and work include Multiverse, Virtual Internships and Fifty, while startups focusing on STEAM, both in K12 (WoWplay, Colori, Codary) and Workforce (Qwant, Simplon, Epicode, Codecool).

Two thirds of startups operate direct-to-consumer models.
This year’s Europe list is a balance of age profiles with a strong group of growth stage companies. A quarter of companies on the list were founded less than 3 years ago.
This year's list shows growth in companies that were founded less than 3 years ago, many of which operate direct to consumer models across Workforce, K12 and Higher Education. Just under one third of startups on the list are 7 to 10 years old and 44% are in the growth phase of 4-6 years old including immersive learning solutions Uptale, Virti and Moonhub.

Not surprisingly, the larger markets of the UK, France and Germany dominate the list, with growth from Spain and Italy.
