Mature EdTechs dominate this years list as new startups find it hard to get a foothold and growth stage companies starved of funding.

The number of newer startups is shrinking as early stage companies find it hard to get a foothold. Of the few in the list which are under 3 years old, including Teachflows, an AI assistant for teachers, and Mist, an app for international students. The last three years has seen a very tight funding environment globally for startups, making it difficult for earlier stage startups to secure funding to reach scale.  30% of this year's list are between 4-6 years old (compared with 25% last year) and, of those startups between 7-10 years, two thirds are operating B2B models.
